Lauren Laverne honoured at Music Producers Guild Awards
Sunderland-born broadcaster and BBC 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne has received the Special Recognition Award at the 2025 Music Producers Guild Awards, held at a packed Troxy in East London this week.
Presented by Elbow frontman Guy Garvey, the award celebrates Lauren’s outstanding contribution to the UK music scene, particularly her enduring support for emerging artists and her influence on music culture over nearly three decades.
The ceremony, organised by the Music Producers Guild in association with Dolby and Mix With The Masters, spotlighted the producers, engineers and studios shaping the future of recorded music. MPG Executive Director Catherine Marks described the evening as “a celebration of the people and studios behind the sound.”
Reacting to the award on Instagram, Lauren shared her disbelief and gratitude: “I was already blown away to be chosen… and to be alongside so many friends and artists I respect hugely,” she wrote.
“Guy Garvey made a speech I don’t think I’m ever going to get over (in the best way possible).”
She also paid tribute to her BBC 6 Music colleagues who surprised her on the night and dedicated the award to her husband. Reflecting on nearly 30 years in broadcasting, she said, “It’s been an honour… to see artists I’ve supported go on the most unbelievable creative adventures.”
The awards comes two months after the 46-year-old returned to the airwaves following her recovery from successful cancer treatment in 2024.
